Komodo National Park

One of the richest marine environments on the planet - and we know how to best dive it.

We believe diving should be fun, not stressful. Our experienced dive professionals uphold the highest safety standards to ensure a comfortable and relaxed dive experience.

Every staff member is passionate about the marine life and our environment. We are conscious of the impact we have on it and do our best to keep it to a minimum. We run our shop as eco-friendly as reality and budget allow.

Our goal is to provide world-class diving, delicious food, and excellent service while at the same time actively preserving our pristine paradise.

If you’re interested in learning to dive, we offer a wide range of courses and certifications from First Timer to Divemaster. All certifications are accepted worldwide and are valid lifelong.
We are looking forward to introducing you to the fascinating world of diving in a fun and relaxed way. Nice and easy.

Diving in Komodo

The dive sites in Komodo can be technically challenging due to the very strong current commonly encountered in many areas. It is important that the current conditions are understood, and dives are guided only by seasoned professionals that not only know where to dive but also understand when and how to dive the site.

Safety is always a priority. We choose dive sites that are appropriate for our divers based on their certification level, experience, and comfort. We check weather, tides and currents when we plan and check the currents upon arriving at the dive sites.

We base our dive groups on levels of experience and never assign more than 4 people to a guide.

All dives are boat dives. Luckily, Scuba Republic has one of the most comfortable and roomy day trip boats in the Park. The spacious dive deck is at sea level and has ample room to gear up. On our breezy top deck, you can recline on giant beanbags between dives while munching on a snack and taking in the breath-taking scenery.

As a bonus – we have a kitchen on board! Forget about soggy sandwiches and enjoy freshly prepared meals.

General

 Information

  • Our dive center is fully stocked with everything you need to give you the best possible and safest dive experience. We provide you with Aqualung & ScubaPro equipment which is serviced every 6 months.

Dive gear and computers are available for rent.

Regulators, BCD’s, wetsuits, booties & fins in regular sizes (XS – XL).

Our wetsuits are long, 3mm – which we experienced to be the best choice.

You're of course welcome to bring your own scuba gear!

If you need to rent any gear, we will be there for you to select the right size with you.

If you are a very strong or tiny person (more than XL or smaller than XS), please let us know in advance so we can have all items ready for you. For any other recommendations for equipment or rental gear, feel free to ask our staff at the shop!

Our standard tanks are Aluminium 12l with INT/Yoke (mostly) and DIN valves. We recommend you reserving a DIN tank/adaptor in advance or bringing your own adaptor if your regulator requires DIN.

15 l tanks & Nitrox are also available, at additional cost. Please let us know at least 24 hrs in advance.

Prescription masks -2 to -6 are also available.

  • We at Scuba Republic Komodo don’t have our own accommodation, but we collaborate with and highly recommend La Boheme Bajo, a charming and popular hostel within walking distance.
La Boheme Bajo offers a great atmosphere in the heart of the port area within walking distance to all major spots in town.

Our central location provides access to many other accommodations in all price ranges and all the best restaurants in town. Local flavours and international cuisine are all represented. For an authentic local experience, we are only a 10-minute walk from the fish market where you can enjoy the freshest fish barbecue for an incredible price.

  • All prices on our website are displayed in Indonesian Rupiah and USD (IDR 15.000 ~ 1 USD)

If not stated otherwise, we will also charge or have to collect for the authorities:

    - National Park, Local Tourist Tax, Diving fees

    - Ticket to the Dragon trail

    - Ticket to Padar View Point

(all of the above sum up to around 20-25 USD per day)

    - Dive Insurance (if not covered by your travel insurance – please check thoroughly). We have a very affordable option for you, please ask us on check-in

All these have to be paid before embarking on our vessels.

We accept cash payments in IDR, EUR and USD or credit card payments without surcharge

  • Every tourist entering the National Park has to pay daily fees. We collect them from you and pass them on directly to the authorities. The amount depends on if that person goes either on land, snorkeling or diving, some also vary between weekdays and weekends/holidays. The main attractions (Trekking/Hiking & the Dragon trails) within the National Park have an extra fee for entrance & the Park Rangers guiding you.

We have the detailed fees on display in our shop – please feel free to ask us.

  • All certified divers must show proof of certification and have medical clearance for diving. We will need any and all medical questions and concerns addressed and cleared before your arrival. Our staff or the local doctors are not qualified to decide whether an individual is fit to dive.

Please check out the Medical History Form which is part of our check-in form here (pop-up link please).

In some cases, we need to ask guests to provide medical proof. (If so happens that you’re already in Indonesia we can recommend facilities in Bali or Labuan Bajo.)

Labuan Bajo has a hospital with a hyperbaric medicine department but still the Komodo National Park should still be considered a somewhat remote destination. Therefore, a full travel insurance that covers possible evacuations AND diving accidents, is required for all our guests. Please check the details of your insurance thoroughly! We also recommend including cover for any cancellations e.g. flights as Indonesian airlines are known for changing or even cancelling their flights rather frequently.

In case where you cannot show proof of dive insurance at the time of check-in you will be given opportunity to purchase one. Without insurance, or the proof of it, we cannot permit you to participate on the trip. We do not issue any refund for lack of insurance. Upon check in we also require you to sign a liability release form.

For any food allergies or dietary restrictions, we kindly ask you to inform us in our online check-in form before your arrival (Liveaboards). We will try to meet your requirements. Our chefs are also happy to prepare ingredients provided by you, so feel free to purchase supplies before coming for the trip.
